MJB: Adding smaller tippers to our fleet

Our first small tipper was purchased back in 2018, enabling us to deliver smaller amounts of recycled aggregate to our customers. Prior to adding the small Izuzu to our fleet the minimum load we had been able to do was a 10 ton load, we can now do a minimum of two.

We found prior to our purchase we were turning away a large number of enquiries because we weren’t able to carry out the requested amounts, leading us to believe there was an opening in the  market and something we thought would be a good opportunity. The biggest advantages to having a small tipper are:

  • The amount it carries to deliver aggregate/muck away
  • Resolving access issues – being based in the Yorkshire countryside can mean smaller/tighter roads which our wagons & tractors and trailers can’t access.
  • Also when business needs require it can also be used to assist our plant hire sector by delivering and collecting machinery where necessary.

Since its purchase the tipper has worked constantly and surprisingly during the covid-19 epidemic the demand only increased further. This has led to us adding a second smaller tipper to the fleet to keep up to requests. We believe the demand has increased initially due to people carrying out more household works due to being stuck at home through lockdown but the demand has continued to grow and we can only imagine this is due to the increased awareness that we have the smaller tipper through both word of mouth and our social media streams.
